With the colder weather approaching I have started to think about getting Roo some new bits and pieces to get her through the autumn/winter months. Vertbaudet have recently released their new Autumn/Winter collection and kindly sent Roo a couple of key pieces to try out.
First up was a Girl’s Check Dress, at first glance I wondered why this had been added to the AW collection due to its short sleeves, however I soon realised that this would make a great layering piece. As the weather is still warm enough to wear short sleeves with a cardigan for when the wind turns chilly the cotton dress makes a great throw on piece.
As the weather turns cooler a long sleeved top can be add underneath to add the additional sleeves needed against the autumn winds. Once winter has taken hold it can be worn with either tights or leggings teamed up with some fur-lined boots.
The dress itself is 100% cotton trill with a 100% cotton voile underskirt, with a concealed zip at the rear of the dress. It comes with a plaited leather belt which you can chose to wear or not.

Personally I prefer Roo without the belt, it allows the dress to flow more freely and as it has no belt loops on the dress you would never know that it came with a belt.
Roo also received a cute Girl’s Beret, which just adds that little something to any outfit, whether it be a dress or just popping on to keep warm on the school run.
Available in either off-white or blue I personally would have loved to have seen it available in a couple of other colours… possibly a black one so I could have one to keep my head warm on the school run too.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
The dress was unfortunately slightly too big for Roo due to her petite (short) stature, however it does allow for layering and a winter growth spurt. The fabric is soft enough to wear against the skin and really washes well. Roo was a little hesitate to put the beret on at first as she thought it looked funny, however after seeing the photos I took of her wearing it she has decided that this must now be her new school hat.
