Go wild with your family this Summer with the UK Adventure Trails children’s activity trail coming to Norfolk.
If you go down to the woods today at Lady Ferrar’s Wood in the heart of the Raynham Estate, Norfolk you’ll happen upon the new UK Adventure Trails event for the first time in East Anglia.
UK Adventure Trails
Designed for children aged two to ten, the UK Adventure Trails Norfolk is a woodland walk with a difference. Hidden along the 1.2km trail eagle-eyed adventurers are tasked with spotting more than 80 characters. Nestled in the woods within the six themed zones there are fantastic beings and magical creatures for inquisitive explorers to discover.
ADDRESS: Lady Ferrer’s Wood – NR21 7EH, East Raynham, United Kingdom
Multi Trail Norfolk
The trail throughout the woodland is just under 1.2km taking around an hour to complete. Making it the perfect length for little legs. Pushchairs and wheelchairs are welcomes but with the understanding that the trail is uneven throughout the woodland. However, I would advise you to let little ones walk where possible so that they are able to get a hands-on experience of the trail. As well as packing wellies, just in case you visit on a wet day as it may be muddy along the woodland walk.
Children are given an interactive booklet to use along the way, from crossing off items they find along the way, counting fairy houses and even a colouring page to be enjoyed.
A windy injury
It was a windy trip to the woodland trail which was fine whilst we were in the woodland, protected by threes and foliage. However, the entrance and exit were where the brunt of the weather hit. Causing the barriers to fall over on several occasions as they had not been secured down with sandbags or weights. Blowing over on top of Tigger at one point, with the staff resetting the barriers, however, failing to check whether he was OK from the fall and the barriers landing on him.
How to book tickets for UK Adventure Trails
Tickets for the UK Adventure Trails Norfolk are priced at £8 per person, with children under 2 admitted free of charge. Tickets need to be purchased online with the date and time slot selected. Free on-site parking, with a refreshments stall and portaloo facilities available.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
Visiting with Tigger and Piglet whilst Roo was at her Duke of Edinburgh volunteering – with her knee injury we decided that she wouldn’t manage it on crutches so booked a date when she was already doing something. Armed with our wellies as it had rained the night before, however, we found that we didn’t need them as the tree canopy and foliage had protected the trail from the brunt of the wet weather.
Both Tigger and Piglet enjoyed exploring the woodland trail, seeking out the different characters along the way, navigating the winding path marked out with a rope. We were able to stop and investigate each section for as long as we wanted before moving on to the next one.
UK Adventure Trails is a great way to get children interested in getting outdoors this summer and exploring woodlands. Pack a picnic and drinks and make the most of the tranquil sounds of nature as a family.
