Something that both Roo and Tigger have grown up on is the tales from Thomas & Friends™. From watching the animated series on TV, watching the Thomas & Friends movies, reading the many Thomas & Friends books, and enjoying all the fun at Thomas Land™.
This year sees Thomas & Friends™ celebrate their 70th birthday and Boo Roo and Tigger Too were lucky enough to be invited to the Thomas’ VIP Birthday Party which was held at The British Museum at the weekend. Walking into the party we were welcomed by Rusty and Dusty who kindly made sure that our shoes were shined and our hair was brushed with their brooms. With excitement in the air we made our way into the rest of the party to see what was in-store for us.
Like any good party there was lots of different activities for us to take part in…
Meet the Fat Controller
Probably one of Roo’s highlights of the party was getting to meet the Fat Controller (or Sir Topham Hatt). The Fat Controller was happy to greet Thomas fans young and old throughout the party and Roo was very proud to have her photo taken with him in front of Thomas. Tigger did however question as to where the Thin Controller was to which I explained that he was back on Sodor running the railway (the things we tell our children).
Entertainment
Dusty and Rusty truly captured the heart and giggles of Tigger and most of the other children at the party (along with some of the adults too). Their tomfoolery was great at keeping the children entertained both in the main party hall but also in the auditorium where they were showing episodes of Thomas & Friends.
Alongside Dusty and Rusty was a storyteller with special book readings who got all the children involved with the actions throughout the story.
Activities
Helping keep the children entertained was an army of Thomas helpers encouraging the children to make Thomas a birthday card. With a table full of glitter, glue, pens and papers it was a crafters haven. Once the children had made Thomas a birthday card they were treated to a special thank you gift with Roo choosing some Thomas & Friends headphones for Tigger, and Tigger selecting a Thomas & Friends busy book which had him entertained all the way home on the train.
Thomas & Friends toys
Tigger approached the tables hosting an array of Thomas & Friends toys as if all his Christmases had come at once. From scooters, ride along trains, push along trains, cameras, books and jigsaw there was just so much to choose from.
Face painting
A team of dedicated face painters were there to help decorate children’s faces with their favourite Thomas & Friends character. With some of the adults not wanting to miss out on the action they had their hands and arms painted too!
It’s not a party without cake!
No birthday party would be complete without a birthday cake. Gathering round to sing happy birthday I’m not sure that we were expecting such a huge but fabulous birthday cake to be brought out.
Happy Birthday Thomas & Friends
We had a wonderful afternoon helping celebrate 70 years of Thomas & Friends, with the children enjoying all the different activities that had been laid on for the party. Thank you for letting us be part of your celebrations!
Happy 70th Birthday Thomas
