There is nothing better in my opinion than popping along to your local cinema, settling down with a drink and box of popcorn ready to watch the latest blockbuster. The thing with popcorn however it can be a little boring after all it generally is only available in three flavour options if you are lucky; sweet, salted or toffee. Now don’t get me wrong these flavours have stood the test of time and help make that cinema experience, however is it not time for a new flavour or two?
Vue Cinema are currently trailing a new range of Thomas Tucker Gourmet Popcorn within their cinemas across the country. With five new flavours for cinema goers to taste test:
- Fruits of the Forest
- Salt & Vinegar
- Sweet N’ Salt
- Coconut Toffee
- Chilli & Lemon

Thomas Tucker Chilli & Lemon Gourmet Popcorn
Sweet popcorn with a chilli seasoning – A fiery chilli flavours complemented by calming zesty lemon juices
Not being a lover of anything remotely spicy this was left to Mr Boo to taste test. The first thing he commented on was how the falvour was really delicious however it was strange to eat it with the texture of popcorn. After a few mouthfuls he soon got over his initial concerns of flavour vs texture.
Thomas Tucker Fruits of the Forest Gourmet Popcorn
Popped corn with a cherry and strawberry toffee coating –
Fruits of the Forest flavours burst your taste buds with ever nibble
Opening the packet to reveal the Fruits of the Forest popcorn that lay inside I was surprised to see the rich colour of the popcorn. Personally I was a little uncusre of how popcorn would work with a fruity flavouring however I was pleasantly surprised to find this a tasty treat. The cherry and strawberry flavours work well together with the toffee to provide a slightly crunchy popcorn full of flavour.
Thomas Tucker Sweet ‘n’ Salt Gourmet Popcorn
Sugar and salt coated popped corn – The classic, much loved sweet ‘n’ salt combo
This has to be my favourite flavour of the three that we received to taste test. The simple act of mixing two classic flavours together really works. Normally I opt for salted popcorn at the cinema, the trouble with this is that I end up drinking more which in turn leads to frequent toileting so I end up missing some of the film 🙁 However by adding the sweet popcorn it balances out the flavours to give the right mix of salt vs sweet.
Are you a popcorn lover?
Would stick to a classic flavour or opt for one of the new Thomas Tucker Gourmet Popcorn flavourings?
