Last week Mr Boo and I headed to our local hospital for our 20-week scan with Piglet. We’d originally planned to take the children with us as it was the first day of the summer holidays. However, they night before I became anxious about what if the ultrasound showed something wrong and the children were there? We have a couple of family member who was born with a hole in the heart so it’s always a niggle at the back of my mind. Opting to leave the children with my sister-in-law we arrived at the hospital.
We were soon called through into the ultrasound room and got ready for our scan. No matter how many children or scans you have had before seeing the image of your unborn baby on the screen just makes your heart melt – the wonder of ultrasound gets me every time. The worries of ‘what if‘ are still there until the sonographer tells you everything is OK however your excitement takes over and every wiggle, arm movement and kick captured on-screen melts your heart.
We’ve been quite lucky with sonographers in the past apart from one particularly grumpy lady who didn’t really make the experience magical. This time, we were lucky enough to have the same lady who had scanned Piglet at 13 weeks (not that she remembered us), she happily pointed out the different body parts etc. making it a lovely experience for us. Our scan went well and thankfully Piglet is growing well and there are no heart issues detected.
Whilst at our scan we also had the opportunity to find out Piglet’s gender…
