Growing up with a family full of birthdays in December has always been normal to me. A week doesn’t go by in December where there isn’t at least one birthday. It all kicks off on the 1st December with one of cousins and even a friend’s birthday, before finishing off the month on the 29th with both mine and my cousin’s birthday (he was born on my 7th birthday and I’ve never really gotten over it).
When it came time to start my own family we had a due date of the 17th November for Roo and my Mam was convinced that I’d hold on until at least December 1st to have her to uphold the family tradition. However Roo actually made an early appearance arriving on the 5th November to a sky full of fireworks.
Whenever I’m chatting to anyone about family birthdays and I mention the fact that almost all of us have our birthdays in December I joke that the Easter bunny brings more than just eggs.
It appears that whilst Roo and Tigger decided to buck the family tradition and opt to come in November – thankfully for my bank balance, although the three days between their birthdays could have been timed better. With the next addition to our family due in December my Mam might finally be getting her wish with the next generation of our family being a December born baby.
Here’s Piglet’s very first photo…
…just to show that the Easter bunny brings more than just eggs.
