Within the first year of my children’s lives, they are Christened, something that is really important to me for a number of different reasons. Now that Piglet is almost four months old it is now time to start planning her Christening.
Whilst the important factor of the day is to welcome her into the arms of the Lord, there are other things that I needed to consider. When and where she will be Christened, both Roo and Tigger were Christened at different churches and depending on whether we will have moved house Piglet may well be Christened in a different church too. We need to decide on who will be her godparents, whilst they are not legally binding we do want to choose the people who would help guide her through her life if something was to happen to Mr Boo and me. I’ve been looking at getting them an extra special gift to say thank you for taking on such a responsibility and I’ve been eyeing up some DKNY watches for her godmothers.
We need to find somewhere to host a little get together after the service, this again depends on whether we have moved house and can hold it in the church hall next to our local church or whether we’d need to look for halls or function rooms close to our new home.
Outfit choices need to be found for us all, although I have already found a beautiful Dickins & Jones dress in the House of Fraser sale. It’s beautiful navy shift dress with lace overlay that is knee-length with short lace sleeves. I’m thinking that it will look great teamed up with my classic heart necklace and earrings set, I just need to find some shoes and possibly a bag. It feels strange to think that I have sorted my outfit out before everyone else.
It’s surprising just how much planning goes into a Christening, however, it is a very special day for Piglet so is worth it all.
Did you get your children Christened?
