It’s been a while since I completed one of the memes going around the blogging world. However, earlier today I was tagged by the lovely Alex from Lamb & Bear to answer a few questions about 2016 and the upcoming New Year. Please do pop over and take a look at Alex’s blog, and don’t forget to check out her range of funky children’s leggings.
What was your highlight of 2016?
I’d have to say finally moving home. It was something we had thought about doing for a number of years and regretted not doing it sooner. Whilst I miss not being a stone’s throw from the beach and the. Our old house holds so many memories for us so it was bittersweet leaving it behind. It has welcomed all three of our babies home from the hospital and we spent hours renovating it too.
Name one thing you are likely to remember about 2016 if asked in 5 years time
Being made redundant. Whilst it was the solution I wanted, given the poor selection of options on the table but all the same, it was hard to take when it did happen.
Sum up 2016 in one word
Adjusting. The year started with a newborn and we were still trying to get used to having an extra little person to think of. Getting routines established, juggling car seats, naps, and the school run. Then moving home was a whole new level of adjusting for us. From sorting through years of stuff, packing and then finally making the move. I’m not quite sure that we are fully settled yet but we are getting there. Then finally adjusting to life as a SAHM, I’m so used to popping on my uniform, dropping the children at childcare and then heading to work. I need to learn how to work more effectively and efficiently at home.
Name one pearl of wisdom that you will carry through 2017
You can do this. Whatever life throws at me, I just have to remember that I can do this and that whatever hardship is happening will pass.
Do you have any New Year resolutions?
Difficult one as I’m not very good at keeping to resolutions. I think for me it is all about finding a balance in life, between my blog, my family, and activities. I don’t seem to be able to get it all right at the moment and it is something I need to work on.
How are you seeing in the new year?
At home. I’ve never really been a big New Year’s fan, I tend to think too much about what has happened in the past. Feel sad about those who have died or no longer choose to be part of our lives. This year will be spent with a Chinese takeaway on the sofa with Mr. Boo. Probably catching up on the TV we have recorded over the last few weeks before realising that it has already chimed midnight.
What would you most like to do in 2017?
I’d like to get the time to visit family and friends who live all around the UK. Before I had the children I would happily skip off for a weekend away etc, and I need to do this more often (with the children coming with me – no chance of a weekend away by myself).
What are your main goals for 2017?
Plan more date nights with Mr Boo, whether it is dashing off to the cinema on a Sunday afternoon or meeting him for lunch together. It’s time to reconnect as a couple and remember that before the children came along there was just us.
And of course, to win the lottery, lose weight, get to the gym and take Boo Roo and Tigger Too to the next level.
