Dressing our kids is an art form – for those style conscious mummies, we face a constant battle between keeping our children, snug, clean and on trend versus the daily demands of a wriggling toddler or the ‘big girl’ who doesn’t want to get dressed. But why compromise style for practicality? For boys, we tend to need clothing that suits the rough and tumble of our little explorer’s busy days, and with the little ladies, keeping ‘pretty’ whilst age appropriate.
Luxury Looks for Little Ones
Let’s face it, we all want our little ones to look like the little Princes and Princesses that they are, and for Spring/Summer 2013, luxury isn’t just for royalty.
Who doesn’t love the look and feel of cashmere? With it’s super natural qualities, and ability to keep kids warm, or cool as needed. From stripes to ‘Fair isle’ designs, I’m delighted to see so much style and edge available amongst new collections in cashmere jumpers, with their on-trend colours. Cashmere cardigans in ‘waterfall styles’ will suit my girls down to the ground and I love the fab new colours to brighten up a Spring wardrobe with a pop of fresh yellow or tangerine, whether we see the sunshine or not! Meanwhile, the boys will be looking very ‘One Direction’ in preppy blazers; but nothing stiff, as there are some fabulous cashmere versions available with on trend style accents and colours.
The ultimate summer fabrics are linen and cotton, and whilst we have to recognize our kids might not keep it entirely crease free, who could resist the linen suit or cotton waistcoat combination for a summer soiree or beach barbecue Linen remains a favourite look amongst retailers for summer occasion wear, and let’s not forget how breezy and effortlessly stylish linen can prove as ‘after beachwear’ for both babes and teenagers alike, with tunics and maxi dresses to suit even the most choosiest of children. Linen and cotton are breathable, non allergenic and become softer over time, so the perfect way to suit your style and comfort this summer.
For babies, when the sun goes down and the weather turns cooler, layers are what it’s all about, and even the youngest members of the family can keep their groove on with the cutest of knits, wrap cashmere cardigans and all in ones.
Kids’ style isn’t always about practicality – the fact is, luxury looks for our little ones make sense, we want our offspring to look as yum as we know that they are. The quality and comfort that comes from high-end fabrics and styling is second to none.
