With two of the children’s birthday’s celebrated last week I am now on the countdown to Piglet’s birthday at the end of the month. I never thought that we would be celebrating all their birthdays with life in lockdown – but it is what it is. They are still able to enjoy their cards and gifts as well as been fortunate to have school so they can at least interact with their friends. Alongside this, I have been ticking things off the Christmas gift lists this week. Taking advantage of the Nectar Double-Up campaign and managing to get a few toys and games put away for the children.
Confirmed COVID-19 school cases
Truth be told we have been living in somewhat of a bubble since life in lockdown began. Even before that really when news of COVID-19 started to infiltrate all the media outlets. Thanking our lucky stars that we haven’t personally been affected by the Coronavirus (healthwise in any case). This week we were notified that there had been a confirmed case at Roo’s high school. A Year 13 pupil so not directly affecting her, however, it did make me pause and wonder whether our good luck is coming to an end. With another case in Year 13 confirmed today via email.
Is it only a matter of time before one of us or a friend/family member succumb to the virus?
Virtual interview
After weeks of applying for positions, I had my first virtual interview this week. A very surreal experience, especially as I haven’t had an interview in around ten years. I wasn’t entirely sure whether it was going to be a video call or not. So I opted to dress the part just in case. Not required in the end as it was just a telephone call but it helped get me into the right frame of mind. I don’t know if I was successful or not – fingers crossed!
Christmas decorations
There are some people who complain that Christmas decorations go up earlier every year. I never thought I’d be one of these people, especially given that I love Christmas. However, I have noticed that quite a few houses on my estate have their decorations up already. What The Dad Said is eager to start getting our decorations out of the garage too. With Piglet’s birthday at the end of the month, I have requested that no indoor decorations go up until after then. Coming from someone with a Christmas birthday I think it’s only fair that she has the chance to celebrate her day before the festive season kicks in.
Sorting through the clutter
It’s that time of the year when I’m very aware of all the clutter, toys and excess clothing that the children have outgrown etc. With birthdays and Christmas adding more to the house I’ve been sorting through the clutter in the hope of freeing up space. As well as enabling me to get ready for organising Christmas gifts etc.
