Can you believe I have been back at work for 9 months? Shocking isn’t it?
When I started this blog I told you all about my reluctance to returning to work following my time off with Tigger. However returning to work was something I needed to do for financial reasons and only working three days (18hrs).
So 9 months down the line, how’s things going?
Well I have just increased my hours to five days (30hrs), this is partly for financial reasons as Mr Boo was made redundant at the end of March. Also partly due to my job share leaving (trust me this is a good thing as we really didn’t get on). My line managers discussed options of finding a replacement for the two days that I didn’t work and whilst I never wanted to work five days I realised that if I didn’t take these extra hours now I may never get them when I wanted them in a year or so time.
I am really lucky as I don’t mind my job, it is easy, straightforward and my managers allow me to have a certain amount of freedom both in my time management (great for when the kids are ill) and in day-to-day working.
It’s funny because when I transferred to my job after I returned from maternity leave with Roo the lady who I took over had done the job for 25yrs! I don’t mind telling you this horrified me, the thought that anyone could do the same job for that long was just unbelievable. Of course now I have been in my current role for nealy 5yrs so I’m a fifth of the way there. Whilst I would love to be paid more (who wouldn’t?) and it’s not exactly brain taxing but it’s a good fit for me and my families needs at the moment so I have no plans to change jobs just yet.
How long have you worked in your job?
Do you like it?
What would you change?
It’s been 9 months
Boo xxx
