Friends and family often joke that we are never at home. With each new weekend that arrives, the chances are we are off on an adventure somewhere. Whether this is a grand day out to Drayton Manor, Legoland or similar. A local day out to Thetford Forest or the SEALIFE Centre, or simply just out and about on the woodland trails close to our home.
With the children at school all week I want to make the most of the time that we do have together. I love the opportunity to get out and about with them. Before Piglet came along we would often take trips to the forest, across the sand dunes and be exploring wherever we might be. As Piglet arrived and our relocation last year we found that the urban style pushchair that we had chosen for her no longer met our needs. Having moved from living on the edge of a seaside town to a new build estate several miles from the city centre. We are now surrounded by woodland, hills and pathways and roadways that aren’t get completed.
iCandy Peach All Terrain Pushchair
Deciding that an all terrain pushchair would be more suitable not only for our local environment but also on our days out I started looking for recommendations. Family, friends and even my fellow bloggers all suggested various models. It was the iCandy Peach All Terrain that came up time and time again.
The action packed Peach All-Terrain. Multi-functional, versatile, manoeuvrable and stylish; everything a parent could wish for.
The iCandy Peach All Terrain is a three-wheeled style pushchair, featuring air-filled tyres. The sleek design offers parents the luxury design and comfort known from iCandy. With the added benefits of large wheels and a rugged frame that will cover almost any terrain.
Currently available in two colourways;
- Eclipse – Featuring an all black chassis and seat unit
- Pace – Featuring a chrome chassis and grey/red seat unit
How to assemble the iCandy Peach All Terrain
The iCandy Peach All Terrain comes neatly packaged in one box (unless you are purchasing the optional carrycot, then this comes in a separate box). Looking at the box wasn’t convinced that it could hold everything required to assemble the pushchair.
- Chassis – including air pump for tyres
- Seat unit – complete with 5 point harness
- Raincover
Assembling the iCandy Peach All Terrain was something that took minutes. I quite surprised myself as I assumed that putting it together would not only take a lot more time but effort too.
- Thread the wheel pins through the rear air-filled wheels. Before depressing the centre pin and pushing into the two holes on the chassis.
- The front air-filled wheel is pushed through the corresponding hole in the front of chassis
- Undo the side folding lock and allow the chassis to open
- Pull up the handle until you hear it click into place
- Place the carrycot or seat unit in either the parent facing or world facing position
- Add a baby (aged over 6 months for the seat unit or from birth in the carrycot) and you’re ready to go
iCandy Peach All Terrain – Seat unit
The iCandy Peach All Terrain seat unit is a comfortable size. Suitable for use from 6 months up to 22kg (making it suitable for even Tigger to hop into – not that I’m telling him that). The seat unit can be used on it’s own or partnered with a seat liner (making it easier to pop in the wash if little gets it messy) or a footmuff in the chillier months. There is also a choice of iCandy blankets available if you wanted to add a pop of colour to the seat unit.
Three seating positions
The seat unit is able to be used in three different positions; lay flat, recline or upright. To change position you need to depress the inner button on each side of the seat unit. This is a two handed task and not easy if you are gently trying to coax little one to nap, when they see you leaning over the pushchair.
Parent facing or world facing
Depending on where we are and what we are up to, I like the option to have Piglet either facing myself in the parent facing mode. Or facing outwards in the world facing mode so that she can take in all the different things around us at the time. Switching between parent and world facing is really easy by depressing the outer ring on either side of the seat unit. Then simply pulling upwards and turning the seat around and placing back into the chassis.
5-point harness
As you would expect the all terrain comes with a 5-point harness. The shoulder strap is clicked into the side strap before securing within the main lock. You have the option to remove the shoulder straps if required and use the straps with just the side straps locked into place. The one-click button in the centre makes it easy for parents to easily unstrap little ones (but hard enough to depress that little fingers won’t be undoing themselves).
Hood and rain covers
The large hood is able to be extended out quite far, shielding little eyes from the sunlight. As well as providing protection from the wind and cold in the chillier months. The hood can be unzipped at the rear and moved up the frame to allow for tall children to still make use of the hood.
The rain covers included with the Peach all terrain are a great size. Slightly bigger than the seat unit so that you can easily slip them on and off as required. Plus they have a riptape fastening that fits around the sides of the seat unit to secure them in place but allow you to access the recline buttons etc.
iCandy Peach All Terrain – Chassis
We have the Eclipse style iCandy Peach All Terrain which comes with an all black chassis as well as a matching black chassis. The chassis frame is strong and feels sturdy as you manoeuvre around the paths, trails, and hills.
Height adjustable handle
The handle on the iCandy Peach All Terrain can be easily adjusted to one of four different heights. By depressing the button located in the middle of the handle, you can simply slide the handle up or down as desired. The handle adjusts from 95cm to 105cm at its maximum.
Shopping basket
Any parent will tell you that the shopping basket on a pushchair is an important factor. The iCandy Peach All Terrain features a long, yet slightly narrower shopping basket than what you’d find on most pushchairs. It is surprising quite deep and can easily hold a picnic bag, changing bag, blanket and drinks on a family day out.
It also features a built-in pocket for the air pump for the tyres so that you don’t leave it at home or misplace it on your travels. The carry strap for when the chassis is folded completes the shopping basket and can be removed if needed (a great addition strap for your changing bag etc if you forget the handlebar connectors).
Wheels
The large air-filled tyres are what really helps with the design of this all terrain pushchair. Making bumping up kerbs, heading over rough ground and even the sand dunes a breeze. We went to Thetford Forest in search of The Stick Man and I was amazed at just how easy it was to push over the tree roots and leaf-flooded forest floor.
The front wheel is able to be locked into a forward position or free moving simply by twist the knob located on the footplate.
All three wheels can be removed if required, especially useful if you need to pack the iCandy Peach All Terrain into a small space for transporting/storage.
How to fold the iCandy Peach All Terrain
Folding the iCandy Peach All Terrain can be completed one handed, although is easier to do with both hands.
- The seat unit is released from the chassis by depressing the outer ring on each side of the seat unit. This can be done one at a time, but I find it just as easy to press both at the same time and pull up to remove the seat unit.
- Depress the handle height button and then with a firm push downwards towards the chassis it will collapse down.
- Pull the carry handle located in the middle of the basket and clip the locking strap into place.
- You can then carry the chassis by the carry strap and the seat unit in one arm.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
We’ve been using the iCandy Peach All Terrain for almost two months and have to say I’m so impressed with it. Whilst I know that it is marketed as an all terrain pushchair there is always that element of doubt as to whether it will live up to its hype. Well, I can assure you that it does and more, from the everyday uses of school runs and popping to the shops. To filling the basket with Christmas shopping and family picnics. To what it was design for and going off road.
Our walks around the woodland trails close to use are no longer a ‘sorry we can’t go that way as the pushchair will get stuck’. To bouncing and gliding along the forest ladened with tree roots, muddy trails and leaves disguising dips and rivets.
Whilst I thought that it would handle the hills and the uneven surfaces, I did expect to have to push and shove my way through it all. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it involved no more effort from myself.
There are a couple of things that I would personally change on the Peach all terrain. I’d love to see a pocket within the shopping basket for the rain covers to be stored in, similar to the air-pump. Changing the seat unit into the different positions is a relatively easy task, however, it does require both hands and I’d prefer a lever on the back of the seat to be able to do this one-handed. The final thing I would change is that the upright position in the seat unit doesn’t feel upright. It is still slightly reclined and Piglet prefers to be up and nosing at the world so often is pulling on the bumper bar to sit up further.
All in all, it is a stylish and beautiful pushchair that is capable of coping with the everyday trips as well as the adventures off road, across the dunes or climbing hills. It has enabled us to get out and about that little bit more, especially without the worry of whether the pushchair will cope with the terrain.
Price and Availability
The iCandy Peach All Terrain pushchair is currently priced at £608, previously £640. iCandy recently announced that they are lowering prices in 2017, making the British luxury brand more affordable. Available to buy directly from the iCandy website and all other good baby retailers.
