Have you ever come across a product and wondered how you ever managed before it came along. How do the inventors of these products come up with the original idea? I often think about this as I get my Trolley Bags out of the boot of my car and hook them onto my shopping trolley as I start the weekly food shop.
Trolley Bags were actually invented by an Irish gentleman called Paul Doyle. Who after completing the food shop on behalf of his pregnant wife wanted to find something that made packing bags at the checkout easier. He was frustrated by the bags not staying open whilst he tried to pack his shopping as well as fitting the bags into the trolley once they were packed.
After coming up with the idea he took the Trolley Bags concept to the Irish Dragons Den in 2013 and made history by getting the quickest offer ever from Gavin Duffy. Following this appearance, Trolley Bags became popular in Ireland.
In 2014 Trolley Bags was acquired by Packing Sorted UK and with a few tweaks, they were launched in the UK and took the UK market by storm. Following the early success of Trolley Bags, new colours and an express version have been released. Then in 2015 with the new carrier bag charge introduced by the UK Government they have again grown in popularity.
We’ve been using Trolley Bags since earlier this year and I have no idea how we managed with using the disposable bags that you would get in stores before the carrier bag charge, even the bags for life are a nightmare to use. For us, Trolley Bags have made our shopping much easier. They hold much more than an average bag and are sturdy and stay open in the trolley when you are trying to pack.
Have you converted to Trolley Bags?
