Dressing for work without a uniform can start of being exciting, wondering what you should wear today. However after a couple of weeks it can soon become a chore and the cost of buying new clothes because ‘they have seen me in this before’ can soon mount up.
So instead of thinking of your work clothes as outfits, i.e. only that shirt goes with that skirt etc., why not think about them with a mix and match approach. Having several key items in your wardrobe that can be dressed up or down depending on how formal the day ahead is going to be.

Trousers or skirts?
Think of your trousers/skirts as being your everyday staple items, you can either chose to have a range of black, navy or grey; or if you prefer go with all one colour. My top tip here is to go for something you feel comfortable in, just because everyone is wearing skirts doesn’t mean that you have to if you are not comfortable getting your pins out.
Shirts/blouses
Who said that shirts and blouses have to white and boring? Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with a nice crisp white blouse but why not let a little bit of your personality shine through. Adding a couple of coloured blouses to your wardrobe will perk up your outfit and will look equally as get either tucked into your skirt or worn loose over the top.
Jacket or jumper?
On more formal days you may need to wear a suit jacket to match your chosen trousers or skirt and whilst this looks fabulous it may not want to be a look that you want to wear everyday. So on less formal days why not opt for a smart cardigan or jumper to both change your outfit from just a simple blouse and skirt combo but will also help keep you warm.
Accessories
Why not accessorise your outfit with a chiffon scarf, this can either be worn around the neck or draped around the collar of your blouse. A simple brooch or belt can also add that little something to your outfit.
