The festive season is now upon us and like most families our outgoings getting bigger by the week whilst or income sadly does not. So with this in mind I need to make the most from what money we do have but I still want to enjoy the festive season. As a Poundland ambassador I have been challenged to see what Christmas treats, gifts and decorations I can get for £20.
The best way to make any home have that festive feel is to get the decorations up. One of our family traditions is that they go up on the 1st December. Poundland have a great selection to chose from, whether your looking for tree decorations from tinsel to baubles. We opted for some lovely clip on glittered butterflies, purple tinsel and some bauble hooks (you can never have too many of those). Or general decorations like crackers, ceiling decorations or the fab glittered NOEL letters that will look great on top of the fish tank.
Filling up those stockings by the fire needn’t be expensive. Why not chose from a wide range of books, DVDs and CDs. There is a lovely selection for both adults and children, like the festive mug complete with hot chocolate sachet, hairbrush set, mirrored necklace hanger and fabulous notepad and pen set.
Wrapping gifts is either a pleasure or a chore, personally I love it. So when I came across a booklet of 120 self-adhesive labels I knew I had to have them as I dislike tags (they only end up getting caught on something and getting ripped off). After looking at the range of wrapping papers, and gift bags available I opted for the mixed packet of 12 papers as this would give me the most flexibility.
I can remember there always being a bowl of sweets and nuts available when I was a little girl and this is something I want to pass on to my children. Poundland have a lovely range of table ware including these cute gingerbread man bowls and sharing platter. Of course its no good just having the bowls if they are empty so why not fill them up with a wide range of well known brands including After Eight, Milkybar and Kinder. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a few candy canes too.
Christmas dinner is something that we look forwarded to all year and I bet if you think back you can still remember how it tasted from last year. My track record with Christmas dinner isn’t great so I thought I’d chose I a kitchen timer, I’m hoping this will aid me with my timings. Along side this I treated myself to a new roasting tray and a foil & cling film cutter. I’m sure I can’t be the only person who cannot get the cling film cut on the edge that comes on the box so hopefully this will be much easier.
Once you have your home decorated, gifts chosen and wrapped, your table decorated, treats in the stockings and your festive meal planned, you’ll be ready to party your socks off.
Alongside the usual Santa/elf hats you can find a great range or party clothing and beauty accessories. I opted for a lovely black/silver scarf and bag that will add that little something to my Christmas outfits.
