At Roo’s school they have a reward scheme in place. Now before you all jump to conclusions there are no iTunes vouchers etc on offer here. The scheme is very simple, if a child has behaved well or has been ‘caught being good’ they will receive a raffle ticket.
One half given to the child and the other has the child’s name, class and reason for issue written on the back. The completed raffle ticket is then placed in a box by class and every Friday a mini draw takes place were one child from each class is chosen to win a little prize. When a say little I mean little, usually a mini pinball game, a pencil, mini notebook etc, the stuff you would usually find in a child’s party bag.
Yesterday all the raffle tickets were counted up and the top 5 children from each class that had been ‘caught being good’ were invited to attend a special workshop being held this morning. So when Roo came home last night I received the following letter:
Whilst this is fabulous that Roo has been chosen they gave parents less than 24hrs notice! So after a frantic telephone to my line manager ‘pretty please can I have an hour off tomorrow?’ she thankfully agreed.
So this morning I managed to slip out of work for an hour and attend her workshop. It was a kite making workshop, the task was to make a kite with a flag from the Commonwealth on it.
There were several flags available to chose from and Roo decided that Guyana was our chosen design.
What do you think? we had a great time making it.
The flags are to be flown in St George’s park this weekend as part of our town’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Does your child’s school reward good behaviour?
