Last year when we came to start renovations on the downstairs of our home we decided to take our old wall canvases to the local charity shop. They were a mixture of flower prints and city skylines that we had bought over the years but didn’t really match anything that we currently owned or the furniture items we had planned after the renovations.
The renovations eventually finished last September and whilst we have added a couple of pieces of furniture to each room they are looking quite plain in terms of decorative pieces. We have been looking for some time to add that personal touch to our living room, however, hadn’t managed to find a piece that we could agree upon. A few weeks ago I was on Twitter (as you do) and noticed that I had a new follower, so like I do with each new follower I popped over to take a look at their profile etc.
My new follower was Bertie & Jack a gorgeous personalised wall art company that was started back in 2010 when Becky and Emma (the lovely ladies behind the brand) had saved enough to invest in materials and a market stall in Bath to showcase and sell their personalised wall art. Juggling childcare and managing the stall between them they worked into the night to ensure that they
Luckily for me, they contacted me to see whether I would be interested in receiving one of their personalised wall art prints, which I was delighted to accept. The hard part came when I had to decide which design to opt for, however, as soon as I saw the penguin fabulous family print I knew that this was the perfect piece to place in our living room. For many years, we have always joked that we are a penguin family (penguins mate for life so we like to think we’ll be together forever) and as it had five penguins on it was meant to be.
After choosing the penguin fabulous family print the next big decision was to choose the background paper that would accompany the print. With many different patterns to choose from it can be a little overwhelming, however, I opted for zig-zag zebra print as I felt it would compliment the penguin fabulous family design. I opted for a black frame to matching the colour of the zig-zag zebra background, plus this would tie in with some other photo frames that we have around the home.
The final touch to the print is a handwritten message to be added to the corner of the print, which is a lovely addition if you are buying as a gift or in our case we added ‘All the Anguish family penguins together‘ as this is our little family joke.
Delivery is usually within a week and the print arrives carefully packaged in bubble wrap and corner protectors. Opening up your selected print is like Christmas morning, you want to rip it open, however, also want to savour the moment too.
Bertie & Jack personalised wall art are the perfect piece to add that personal touch to any room or even as a beautiful gift. You can purchase direct from the Bertie & Jack website or from a number of different stockists.
