Dear Tigger
Yesterday as I dropped you at pre-school one of your teachers handed me a note as I left, it was only when I got back to the car that I read it.
Miss E is leaving at the end of the term and starting a new position elsewhere. I read and re-read the note and instantly felt sad for you and in part for me too.
Miss E is the wonderful teacher who has taken you into the school kitchens and shown you how to make biscuits, cake and most recently moon rocks (rock cakes). She has understood your fussy nature and worked with you, to encourage you, to convince you to try new foods. Taste testing biscuits and making a breakthrough with your new-found love of crumpets.
I am sad for you that Miss E is leaving, I hope that you grow up to remember the kindness, compassion and patience she has shown you. I hope that you remember her wise words about trying new foods and that you can’t dislike what you have tasted.
I am sad for me as she is someone who had made a connection with you. Someone who you trusted enough to try new foods and had fun with in the kitchen.
There is a collection at pre-school which I will add some money into but I want to give her something special from you, from us to show just how special she has been to you – I best get my thinking cap on
Love you Mummy xox
