This afternoon Tigger and I made our way to a local restaurant with a soft play area attached to attend his first pre-school birthday party. With Mr Boo off for the weekend he had kindly taken Roo to the cinema to see The LEGO Movie so that I could take Tigger on my own.
Roo has never really been invited to boys parties so I have to admit that I was not prepared for the noise, the throwing and the general horseplay that comes hand in hand with a group of 15+ pre-school boys.
Tigger himself generally is a fairly quiet little boy to those who he does not know. He generally displays a reserved nature, not one for jumping about on things, throwing etc.
That was until today
Today I saw a side to my little boy that surprised me. He went running off and was soon thick in the action of throwing balls from the ball pit, building towers with the large soft play bricks and generally being loud and crazy boy.
In many ways it was so lovely to see that despite my concerns for his social interactions with other children and his fearfulness to jump and get involved, he was just one of the boys this afternoon.
He has a long way to catch up to his social butterfly sister but today I saw hope in that he happy and has made friends at pre-school.
