Everything about a backyard party is fun, especially when Mother Nature blesses you with a clear sky and nice weather. With some jams, drinks, and of course a delicious meal to compliment the weather—it’s nothing but perfect! However, you need to consider the unwanted guests—I mean bugs or insects, whenever you’re planning a backyard party. These insects, as little as they may seem, are capable of making your guests uncomfortable by biting them, therefore ruining your great party. So before you get going with your little get-together, you may need to contact a pest control company to get rid of these bugs.

Tip 1: Trim and prune your verge

It’s no news that insects love moving around undercover or shades especially when the weather is hot. They technically love cool and quiet shades that can support their growth, reproduction, etc. Having that place closer to their food supply is an added advantage for them.

So before planning a backyard party, you need to check out shaggy areas such as lower limbs of shrubs, shade trees, tall grasses, and weeds. This is because the shaggier your grass is, the more likely you’ll find bugs in it. You should also deter adult mosquitoes since they are attracted to tall grasses and weeds.

Therefore, before you set up for your party, you need to cut your grass and thin its branches. Trim and prune both the bushes and shrubs and make sure there are no hiding areas for bugs.

Tip 2: Identify and eliminate standing water areas

Removing standing water is one of the oldest and most cost-effective ways of preventing mosquitoes. Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes since they love to lay their eggs anywhere they find moisture. The eggs usually feed on bacteria found in the water for their survival. To therefore prevent mosquitoes from making a mess of your great backyard party, you need to locate and eliminate any ports that can serve as a breeding spot for mosquitoes. It doesn’t matter how small the container is, so far it can trap a bit of water, eliminate it.

If you have sunken areas in your yard that traps water, fill them with dirt. Other areas that can accumulate and retain water for 7 to 10 days should be removed. However, any water-holding container that can’t be removed, like rain barrels, should be covered when it’s not raining.

Check out for clogged drains, water pooling, and trays under flower pots too… Change the water in the watering can frequently to make sure mosquitoes don’t get nutrients. Lastly, follow this simple process for reducing mosquito breeding sites in your backyard “Dump it, Clean it, Drain it, or Fill it” and you won’t ever need to be bothered about mosquitoes again. Tip 3: Plant the Right Grasses

Planting the right grasses is a biological means by which you can keep insects away from your garden or backyard. By right grasses, we mean insect repellent plants. Having these plants will not only keep insects away from your perimeter but beautify your party with a fragrant smell. Some of the grass you can plant are Citronella grass, lemongrass, Marigold, Chrysanthemum, Basil, Mints, and many others.

However, if you do feel that no matter what you do, the pests and insects just keep knocking at your door, then it may be time to call in some reinforcements. Pest control companies are especially useful when your Termites or insects start to get a bit out of hand, and they’ll not only take care of the problem but give you some great advice as well! You deserve to be able to relax in your home and garden without anything nibbling away at your sanctuary, so be sure not to let this one wait!
