Ride, drive and operate real full-sized construction machinery – no driving licence required! Join in the fun at Diggerland Yorkshire, fasten your seatbelts for an adrenaline rush on Spindizzy or test your driving skills on the Dumper Trucks.
Diggerland Yorkshire is somewhere that has been on our family travel list for the past couple of years. Although our previous attempts to visit have been scuppered due to Piglet being ill. Finally, last week we were able to make our first visit to Diggerland Yorkshire. Located just off the M62 at Castleford it was easy to get to and ironically means that have driven past the exit a number of times over the years.
Diggerland Yorkshire
Diggerland is the ultimate adventure UK them park experience. Where children and adults alike can ride, drive and operate REAL diggers, dumpers and other full-size construction machinery.
Hands-on fun for all the family
The attraction is home to around 20 rides and activities for both children and adults to enjoy. With the Diggerland website breaking down which rides are suitable for each height group, Children under 90cm gain free entry to the attraction, which is due to the limited rides that they are able to enjoy. That being said, just getting to watch the various diggers and dumper trucks in action would happily keep younger ones entertained. Children over 90cm have a wider range of rides open to them, which continues to grow as they reach 100cm and 110cm etc.
Preschooler Fun
At 104cm Piglet was able to access the majority of rides on her own, with Tigger by her side or with one of us assisting her with the driving. She loved the range of different trucks, diggers and machines available. With the recent wet weather adding to the muddy fun of the diggers and dumpers – especially the Joyrider around the woodland.
Tween Fun
With Tigger in the 120-140cm height bracket is was able to partake in the majority of the rides and activities on his own. With only a handful of rides that he wasn’t able to go on at all – but What The Dad Said stepped in to have a go. Whilst some of the rides still required him to have support from an accompanying adult.
Loving the opportunity to try out the different diggers and machines available. Eager to try out all of the rides that he was able to go on. Including the adrenaline-filled Spindizzy ride which if I’m honest I felt queasy just looking at, thankfully What The Dad Said has a stronger stomach that I do.
It’s not just for kids!
With just a handful of rides that the children were unable to access as they were too short (although Roo would have been able to go on these), What The Dad Said made sure that these were fully tested out. Having a little bit more fun than the children at times. Sending photos to his friends of his antics, they were amazed to discover an attraction dedicated to diggers, trucks and machines.
Experience days for adults
Diggerland offers a range of experience days for adults (over 17s only!), these must be prebooked and prepaid ahead of time. They can also be purchased as gift vouchers so would make a fantastic gift idea.

More than just rides
Alongside the outside range of rides and drives there an indoor play area ‘the fun factory’ for the children to enjoy (and adults to rest for a moment or two). As well as a ‘Dig Inn’ cafe which offers both hot and cold food options alongside drinks and snack – which are all reasonably priced.
In case you are looking to take a souvenir home from Diggerland, there is a wonderful gift shop too. Stocking a range of clothing, toys and gifts.
