If you have leftover of this casserole it will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to five days. Be sure to store it wrapped. You can store it in the cast iron skillet but be sure to wrap it tightly to keep the air away from it. You can transfer it to an airtight container for the best way to store tater tot casserole.
How to Reheat Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole
If you have leftover cheesy tater tot casserole, you can store it in the skillet, covered in the fridge or move it to a container. You can reheat the casserole in the microwave, on the store or in the oven. You only want to heat until it is warmed through. It should take about 15 minutes. You do not want to overheat it because you can dry it out.
How to make Cast Iron Skillet Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 10.7 ounce can condensed cheddar cheese soup
- ½ cup milk
- 10-ounce package frozen peas
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 pounds tater tots
- Salt and pepper
Method
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a cast-iron skillet, add ground beef and seasonings, brown the ground beef.
- Remove from heat, drain grease, and remove beef from skillet.
- Place a layer of tater tots along the bottom of the skillet.
- Place in the oven for 10 minutes or until tots have thawed.
- Squish the tots, until they cover the entire bottom of the pan.
- Put the beef back in the skillet.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soup and milk, add the peas and half of the cheese.
- Pour over the beef.
- Top with remaining tater tots.
- Top with the rest of the cheese and bake for 40-45 minutes.
