Everyone knows that good dental health is important. Sometimes, however, dental health gets a backseat to other things to take precedence. Until the toothache starts and by then it isn’t just preventative it is handling a problem.

Things to do Daily for Good Dental Health

Instilling good dental health begins when we are kids. Whether you are talking about a child or an adult, the things that should be done are the same. Teaching children to follow these steps, so that they continue it as adults are key to good dental health.

  1. Brushing – Brushing your child’s teeth until they can do it themselves are very important. Making sure to brush all areas of the teeth, including the bard to reach back teeth.
  2. Flossing – Flossing is very important. Flossing helps to remove food particles and plaque that brushing alone can not reach. Many times, when children develop cavities it is between their teeth. This is also very important when children and adults have teeth that are very close together. The food and plaque build-up between the teeth.
  3. Mouthwash – Mouth wash is also another good way to clean teeth after brushing. It helps to get those hard to reach places. Many types of mouthwash have fluoride to help teeth stay strong. FOr people who do not like burn associated with mouthwash, there are washes that do not contain the harsh alcohols that cause the burn. For children, there are mouthwashes designed especially for children.

Things to do bi-yearly

It is important to see the dentist twice a year. This will help you stay on top of issues before they turn into real problems. The dentist will clean your teeth and do Xrays to see if there are issues with the teeth that can’t be seen with the naked eye, like cavities.

With children, this can be even more important, but sometimes, the cost of these things prevent parents from taking their kids to the dentist. Kiln Lane Dental understands. They offer Children’s memberships to help kids get the dental care they need. It includes:

  • A dental examination each year
  • An annual hygiene visit
  • Free fluoride treatments
  • Free fissure sealants (if clinically required)
  • Worldwide Trauma Insurance to protect against large unforeseen accidental damage
  • Emergency Callout Insurance should your child need a dentist in an emergency
  • Parental Redundancy Protection for up to 12 months

This is a great way to stay up to date with your child’s check-ups and will teach the importance of dental care so they will follow through as adults.
