When we’re bringing a bundle of joy into the world, there’s so much to think about. Whether it’s your first baby or your third, nesting never gets old. It’s all part and parcel of imagining how your life will be once the new addition to your family arrives. It’s an exciting time.
Most people have all the fundamentals covered from the get-go. Things like cots, changing stations, nappy bins, chest of drawers and a wardrobe. Chances are, if you have had children before, you may have even decided to keep some treasured items to hand down to your new baby. As well as being extremely cost-effective, it also has an incredibly sentimental tone behind it. When you look upon that furniture in the future, it’s going to hold so many memories.
Beautiful finishing touches for your baby’s nursery
All the big stuff aside, you’re going to want to add bits and pieces that make your baby’s nursery come to life. It’s often the finishing touches that bring the room together and make it what it is. If you’ve decided not to find out your baby’s gender, home accessories can easily be added after birth too, with all the main decorating out of the way.
Have you thought about the floor space?
Whether you’ve gone for a wooden or carpeted floor, an attractive, quality rug not only adds detail and interest to the room but doubles as a soft and cosy place, where your little one to play. I adore this polka dog rug for a baby girl’s bedroom. Teamed with bold prints and modern-day strong-minded stories, your nursery design will really make quite the statement. Inspire them from the moment they open their eyes
Walls provide a great space for personalising a baby’s nursery. Remember, as your baby begins to grow, the walls of their room will be the first thing they see when they wake up and the last thing they look at before they sleep.
Have a think about what kind of prints you would like to incorporate into the nursery. Is there a special region if the world that you could use to inspire you? Perhaps traditional children’s tales or rhymes? Even contemporary classic films could work, such as your Pixar favourites.
A room without books is like a body without a soul
Children’s books themselves can be both practical and beautiful. Choose some of your favourites from when you were younger and display them, openly, for some nostalgic décor. Hardback classics such as Winnie-the-Pooh and Beatrix Potter really set a lovely tone for the baby’s environment. Being surrounded by books from such a young age is no bad thing, either.
What little details did you add to your baby’s room?
