As a family, we try to have games night once a week. A time when we put technology to one side and enjoy an hour or two of board games. Something I can remember doing as a child and whilst the losing can be hard when you do win it is always good to do the happy dance.
Ravensburger is a popular choice in our house for puzzles but we have never really tried their games selection. Recently we were sent the new Ravensburger Disney Frozen Race to The Palace Game to try out on family games night to see whether we would get Frozen Fever or we’d be singing Let It Go (terrible puns, sorry).
Ravensburger Disney Frozen Race to The Palace Game
Contents:
- 1 game board
- 5 playing pieces
- 4 character chips
- 3 dice
- Suitable for ages 5 years +
- For 2 to 4 players
- Helps to develop manual dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination
How to play
- Connect the board pieces together and add the stands to the character playing pieces
- Place all the character playing pieces on the bottom of the board no matter how many players are playing. Then each player takes a character chip that is laying face down so nobody sees who you have got.
- Starting with the youngest roll the three dice and then move the character that corresponds to the colour on the first dice and then the number of spaces on the subsequent dice. For example, if there is 2 & -1 you would move forward two spaces and then back one.
- Continue up the board until one character playing piece has reached the castle, the player with that character chip them wins. However, should Hans reach the castle first you all lose.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
Frozen is still a big hit in our house (unless I’m singing Let It Go and the kids scream stop singing Mummy!) so when they saw this new game sitting on the side ready for games night they insisted that we played it first.
With a quick read of the instructions I was a little confused as to how the game worked but after re-reading them I managed to work out that there was a twist to what would be normal game play. With each player taking a turn to move any piece and only revealing which character they have when they reach the end. I quite liked the idea of this as sometimes little ones can become grumpy if they see that they are losing etc but this offers everyone a chance to play.
