A Guide to Surviving the Years One to Four (Written by Parents, for Parents)
A little while ago a lovely lady called Joanne Mallon was looking for mums and dads to share their tips on tantrums. When Roo was little she had her fair share of tantrums (and to be honest she still throws a few now!), so I thought myself qualified to add my two pence into the hat.
My advice…
Roo would throw herself backwards, without thinking and this panicked me. What if she would bang her head on the wall, a corner of furniture… so I would pick her up, lay her down on the floor for a timeout. Let her kick, wriggle, scream as much as she wanted to (get it all out of her system).
Of course this is fine if you are at home or indoors somewhere but if you are out… simples, lay the pushchair seat flat or lay across your knees.
I found that instead of trying to stop the tantrum it was often best to just let it run its course.
The lovely Joanne Mallon has now published her book ‘Toddlers: An Instruction Manual: A Guide to Surviving the Years One to Four (Written by Parents, for Parents)’ which is available from Amazon in both paperback and ebook.
Please take a look and you may just see my little piece of advice in there too.
