Christmas Tree Festival

December 15, 2015

A few months ago an opportunity arose for Roo’s Cub Scout group to submit a decorated Christmas tree into the local Christmas Tree Festival. With the forms submitted we started planning on how the children could decorate the tree. With the children working towards lots of new badges we thought it would be good for them to design their own badge bauble to place upon the tree.

With some craft supplies kindly donated by Hobbycraft, the children spent the evening making the badge baubles at the end of November ready for when the Christmas tree had to be submitted last week. The Cub Scout group had been lucky enough to have had a Nordman Fir tree donated by B&Q along with some added extras to help make the tree stand out from the others submitted.

As luck would have it I received a text from the school on Friday to say that Tigger’s reception class had also submitted a Christmas tree to to festival so at the weekend I took the children along to the local church where the Christmas Tree Festival was being held. I’d planned to take the children on Saturday but the weather was awful and as I can’t drive at the moment I decided to wait until Sunday for better weather. Ironically my Facebook profile flashed up a memory from last year when we took part in the Christmas Tree Trail in Norwich. So it looks like December 13th is our day for going to look at Christmas trees.

With over 50 different Christmas trees submitted from schools, clubs and businesses it was lovely to see just how differently each one had been decorated.
